George Delphis was born in Cairo in October of 1945. Egypt’s atmosphere never left him, not as nostalgia, but as a life source. Life on earth, but also in infinity, and spirit.
From Cairo to Athens and -through scholarship- to Paris, Delphis continued his music studies, including composition with Olivier Messiean. He also took jazz lessons at the Bill Evans Piano Academy.
Delphis also pursued his personal interests that led to India where, on top of philosophy, he studied rhythmics with Chotte Lai Mistra, at the B.H.U. (Benares). He broadened his horizons into the musical tropes of the east: Egypt, Turkey, Iran, as well as Byzantine music.

From the Paris Opera and Conservatoire where he featured as pianist, he culminates as composer in the Sainte Chapelle.
The greecepeace.com label presented 10 recordings of Delphis’ works performed by esteemed musicians, especially Michel Michalakakos’ Quartet, which has performed the composer’s music since 2009 at the Sainte Chapelle.
